BIO
Katie Marshall, LPC, M.Ed., (she/her) is a licensed professional counselor and has worked in higher education for 17 years. She founded Stand for State, Penn State’s bystander intervention initiative. She spearheaded its inception, development, and implementation university-wide across 21 campuses from 2013-2019. She has also held positions in higher education within enrollment management, student counseling services, student engagement, and health promotion and wellness. She is a subject matter expert in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; sexual and relationship violence prevention; mental health; risky drinking; and behavior change campaigns for social good. She currently holds a position at Penn State Outreach and Online Education as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Program Specialist within the office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity. In this role her focus includes assessment, strategic development, and culture change.
She earned degrees in Education and Psychology from York University, Nebraska. She completed a dual-title ME.d. in Counselor Education and Comparative & International Education from Penn State University. She holds an executive certificate in Social Impact Strategy: Ending Violence and Abuse in Relationships from the University of Pennsylvania, and has provided consultation and mentorship in areas including developing initiatives around social impact, behavior change campaigns for social good, and bystander intervention.
